Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has been conferred the National Life Member of the National Association of Nigerian Students by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
Speaking while receiving the honour at the Government house Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu said the essence of his huge investment in the education sector was to restore the confidence of parents in public schools. This confidence he said would ensure parents do not pay more than twenty percent of their income on school fees.
According to him, no meaningful economic development can be created in any society where parents spend most of their income on paying school fees.
Conferring the honour on the Governor, the President, National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Bamidele Danielson Akpan, said Abia Students have constantly informed the leadership about the roles the Governor plays in supporting them, adding that they have consistently praised the Governor on those roles – one of the numerous reasons why the delegation came to do the needful by conferring the honour on him.
