The installation of Enyimba Automated Shoemaking Machine is ongoing at the factory located at Umkalika in Obingwa LGA of Abia State.
Confirming the date to ABIA ONLINE crew, Special Adviser to the Governor who doubles as the co-facilitator of the Factory, Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu revealed that the installation would be completed in about 14 days after which the test-running would last for 7 days before the commissioning by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
According to Mr. Nwaogu, the Chinese partners of the project are on hand to guide the 30 shoemakers from the State who were sent on training to China in coupling the equipment.
He praised the effort of the Governor in not only initiating the project but also in seeing the acquisition of the machines from China observing that the factory on completion would be capable of producing 10,000 pairs of shoes within the shortest time possible.
Conducting our team round the place, some of the shoemakers trained in China informed that the machines to be installed include: Cutting Machine which is capable of cutting about 50 pairs of shoes in on swoop; In-step Framing Machine for adjusting boots; Front-Lasting Machine which is used for the final coupling from the toe to the vamp line and Labelling Machine, used for printing the serial number and labelling the finally manufactured shoes.
