The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has slammed former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, for his recent claim that the Peoples Democratic Party will win the governorship election in the state in 2019
“Adolphus Wabara only succeeded in fooling a few members of the PDP faction which played host to him penultimate Saturday during the party’s ward congress which ended in fiasco as expected.
“Which PDP is Wabara relying on for victory in 2019? Is it the same PDP under which the people of Abia State, where Wabara comes from, are currently gnashing their teeth on account of bad governance?” the Oyo APC spokesman, Olawale Sadare, said.
In a related development, a former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, said he had no plans to contest the governorship again after his declaration to vie for the national chairmanship of the PDP.
Ladoja spoke on a radio programme monitored in Ibadan on Saturday.
The former governor, who recently defected to the PDP from Accord Party, said, “If I was still interested in the governorship, I would not signify my interest in the PDP chairmanship. The last time I contested, my party compelled me to. I did not lose the election, I only lost at the tribunal on technical grounds.
“I am contesting (the PDP chairmanship) to ensure that no other party member fall a victim. I will instil confidence in everybody by ensuring there is a level-playing ground in all parts of Nigeria.”
