Recounting the mind boggling experience I had, on Friday 22 June, 2018, with the students participants of Abia Brain Facio 2018, I can not help but marvel at the revolutionized change digital education is going to employ into our educational system. It was indeed a defining moment listening to those students debate on digital education and the impact of social media – the advantages and drawbacks.
Digital information technologies are transforming the way we work, learn, and communicate. Within this digital revolution are new learning approaches that transform hierarchical, industrial-based models of teaching and learning in the educational sector.
I want to thank Abia Online for giving me the platform, #LookAfrica team for the opportunity, my brother Bestman Eruba for making it lively, and all those who joined hands to make it happen, irrespective of limited resources. It paints clear picture of determination, commitment and hard work. I must say kudos to you all.
Also, I commend our digitally inclined Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D, who is not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring Abia educational system attain the level in digitalization obtainable world over. Apart from partnering with an Australian NGO in retraining our teachers to arm them with digital techniques in vogue in develop countries; Abia State government has embarked in rebuilding over 300 primary schools and 4 model secondary schools.
This calls to mention, the revolutionary Education for Employment (E4E) programme – a brainchild of Governor Ikpeazu’s administration, which has become the engine house of youth empowerment through skill acquisition. These projects, and others put together, have been keyed towards rejuvenation of a digitalized educational system in Abia State.
Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is a blessing to Abia, and for the first time since its creation, Abia has a clear direction towards development.
