ABIA DECIDES 2019: LET BROTHERLY LOVE PREVAIL

ABIA DECIDES 2019: LET BROTHERLY LOVE PREVAIL

The elections have come and gone as expected Governor Ikpeazu won though after a fight from the opposition candidates. One would have expected that these men will jointly congratulate the Governor and join forces with him to continue on the path of development for the state. Instead they are once again beating the drums of war. After another round of trouncing in the courts they will come again in 2023 to start running like headless chickens.

Like I have consistently said, in comparison OVI remains the best man for the Job not only that he understands the Abia political climate better, he also has a very good heart. He told me during one evening that perhaps Abians think otherwise after his campaigns, he will immediately resume in the classroom post May 29, 2019. But God who graciously rewards hardwork and good intentions with success, Abians have insisted resoundingly that he continues till 2023. Every well intentioned Abian is now duty bound to all put their hands to the plough to really move the state towards the desired destination on the already clearly marked path.

Governor Ikpeazu means well, the outcome of the elections clearly shows that Abians appreciate his contributions to the development of the state, believe in his plans and programmes and are poised to continue their support for him till 2023 and beyond. This is no time for needless distractions including uncoordinated criticisms just for the sake of it or any form of unnecessary legal rigmarole which will as usual amount to nothing. From the results, Abia is a PDP state and PDP leaders gave a good account of themselves in their areas of strength while the opposition performed as predicted in their areas of strength. Only one winner will emerge and he has. There is a job to be done, which is the sustainable development of Abia which requires the input of all well meaning Abians. It will be a high level disservice to the state and insult on the sensibilities of Abians for anyone to question this outcome. The Governor has magnanimously invited all including his competitors to come onboard in unity for the good of Abia. I believe that invitation should be accepted without hesitation if indeed these men and some of their few supporters mean well for the state. Some have since Sunday 10 March 2019 been reaching out to congratulate the Governor and pledged to work with him, all hands should therefore be on deck to drive this vehicle safely till we hit Eldorado.

This is the new spirit that should permeate all the nooks and crannies of the state, we are one joined by God with one destiny. Beating drums of war would harm us more as people instead of healing the wounds inflicted in the course of the electioneering process. Our young generation and children yet unborn including posterity will judge us fairly if we tread on these paths of peace, unity, camaraderie and progress.

God bless Abia
