Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has described as commendable the compliant level of Abians to the sit at home order of the State Government.
Sir Oko Chukwu however, commended the Abia State Joint Taskforce on Covid-19 for doing a great job in making sure that the lockdown order was enforced.
The Deputy Governor, who was addressing the Team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Homeland Security, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee at Isi-Gate Umuahia after going round Umuahia to see things for himself, also praised the citizens for heeding to the directive.
While expressing excitement and appreciation to God that Abia has yet to record any outbreak of Corona virus, he lauded the effort of the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for taking proactive and precautionary measures to ensure that no one in the State would test positive to the deadly virus.
Sir. Oko Chukwu reemphasize the importance of adhering strictly to the basic hygienic measures of constant hand washing, use of hand sanitizers as well as observing social distancing and insisted that the only way to break the chain of transmission is to observe the stay at home order of the State Government.
Responding, Abia State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. M. A Jatau, thanked the Deputy Governor for finding time to visit the Taskforce describing the action as motivational.
Mr. Jatau assured that the Covid-19 Joint Taskforce would continue to work assiduously to ensure the order is maintained so as to help break the chain of transmission of the virus.
ABIA ONLINE reports that the Abia State Covid-19 Joint Taskforce, which has been monitoring compliance since the declaration of the Governor, toured round Umuahia including the boundary between Abia and Imo States, otherwise known as Onuimo.
