ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT EXCO DECISIONS PRESS BRIEFING.

The Abia State Executive Council has rose from its meeting to approve construction of roads worth 10 billion naira.
Briefing journalists on the outcome of this Week’s executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Culture & Strategy, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha listed the rural roads to be constructed and informed that the roads approved so far were the first phase of the road constructions to be done in rural areas as other phases would come subsequently.
He said that the EXCO has directed the Ministry of Environment to arrest the erosion manace in Uzuakoli-Alayi- Ohafia road and save lives of the road users.
The Commisioner said that EXCO has also approved the the setting up of a committee to investigate series of complaints on schools returned to their original owners as there were reports indicating that have been turned into other usages other than academics. He disclosed that the need to develop Abia State Strategic Education Sector Plan has equally been approved because of the benefits it would bring to the State, adding that approval was also given on the need to establish Reform Guidelines for Private Primary Schools.
Comrade Iwuoha conveyed the approval of the Council, the request of the Ministry of Trade & Investment to amend Abia Produce Inspection & Sale Tax Law and forward same to Ministry of Justice for necessary action.
The Information boss also said that the Council has commended the Ministry of Youth Development for initiating the Abia Youth Development Policy and advised it to perfect it.
