The Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne has commissioned a new completed sixty three (63) capacity rooms ultra modern Hostel with Two hundred and fifty two (252) bed spaces, as well as a material Lab for the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Studies.
While cutting the commissioning the buildings, the Vice-Chancellor, particularly thanked God for the protection of the workers all throughout the period of construction and the Visitor to the University, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu PhD, who he said, provided every support and the enabling environment for the completion of the projects.
He congratulated the contractor for a job well done, and for delivering on a record time. The Vice-Chancellor declared open the buildings, on behalf of the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu PhD, the Governing Council, Senate, University Management, and other stakeholders of the University Community.
Earlier, the former Director of Physical Planning (DPP) Surveyor G.U. Ogbonna in his introductory remark, stated, the Hostel was built based on design specification by the assistance of Special Intervention Project of TETFUND 2014, while that of the material Laboratory for the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Studies, was through the NEEDS Assessment Intervention Project 2013.
Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, also officially opened a new Law Faculty E-Library building at the Umuahia Campus of the University, another project of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Project 2013, stating that the University has been prudent in the utilization of the funds by these intervention agencies.
The completed projects were constructed by DESCON Construction Company through the Federal Government Special Intervention Project, and the NEEDS Assessment Intervention Project 2013 respectively.
Present at these events were the Principal Officers, the immediate past and present directors Physical Planning and other persons.
