The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. ACB Agbazuere has stated that the Governor Ikpeazu-led administration would do everything within its powers to ensure that workers in Abia State are comfortable.
Dr. Agbazuere made this assertion when a delegation of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Abia State Council, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Umuahia, assuring that Government would work with the the State Council of the NLC to ensure that issues of workers’ welfare are well taken care of.
The Chief of Staff, who stressed the need for reorientation of Labour leaders and retraining of the Civil Service workforce, also called on all workers with any complaint or challenge to channel them to the Chairman of the NLC, who he said would in turn report same to the Government for necessary action.
He advised Union members, including the factional group of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) to refrain from all forms of protests and divisions among them and reminded them that the present adminstration has unveiled a road map for tackling issues pertaining to payment of workers salaries and pensions.
Dr. Agbazuere assured that with his appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor, he would bring his experience to bear to ensure that Government House is strengthened and reorganized for optimal result.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Uchenna Obigwe told Dr. Agbazuere that the labour leaders were in his office to congratulate him on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to the Governor as he was their former leader.
Comrade Obigwe described the Chief of Staff as a tested, trusted and an experienced administrator and labour leader who is capable of contributing greatly to the Ikpeazu administration, and pledged their support and co-operation for him in taking the State to greater heights.
