One of the most important things to do in order to save life in an emergency health situation is the first aid. Any victim of emergency health issues who receives first aid before being attended to by experts always has the chance of surviving from such emergencies.
Cardio pulmonary resuscitation can be seen as a first aid of a sort. It is a procedure to support and maintain breathing and circulation for an infant, child, or adolescent who has stopped breathing (respiratory arrest) and/or whose heart has stopped in a condition popularly known Cardiac Arrest.
This Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Training was initiated by the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu .
This program is powered by Vicar Hope Foundation and the Abia State government has been going on for more than 2years now.
Just few days ago, this year’s training session just kicked off with highflying resource persons for the training including , Dr. Uloma Judith Nwakanma who has come from her base in United States of America where she is an expert to transfer the best practices of the skill.
The gains associated with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training cannot be over emphasized. It could help save many lives in times of health emergencies such as shock, heart attack, respiratory arrest among others.
The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu deserves commendation for approving a routine refresher training of health care providers and other emergency responders such as the law enforcement agencies , ambulance services etc.
This is important because a great percentage of fatalities arising from emergencies are preventable if first responders have knowledge of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) administration.
In the training, it was explained that because of the limited resources available to the service, the Governor reasoned that if first responders are equipped with the CPR skills, that a lot of lives will be preserved.
There is therefore need for all to cooperate with the vision of the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Ikpeazu through her pet project, the Vicar Hope Foundation to acquire the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation skill. Of course the training is not restricted to medical practitioners.
Let us all cue-in to it and try to help save lives. A stitch in time saves nine.
