In-line with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s job creation agenda through Agriculture and Establishment of Youth Farm Settlement(AEYFS), Green House and Agro Industrial Cluster which foundation laying ceremony was done by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with State Government in 2016, Government has fulfilled all requirements for disbursement of fund from the central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Agriculture.
The project Director of Abia Youth Empowerment in Agricultural programmes, Mr Obinna Ibiam who disclosed this during a meeting with Executive Members of the Youth Co-operatives in his office in Umuahia said the state Government trained over three thousand youths for ninety days at the National Roots Crops Research Institute Umudike in addition to Grouping them into cooperatives and approval of counterpart fund for disbursement of one hundred and Fifty Million Naira, cassava stems, feeds, fertilizers, Day-old chicks, pesticides, as starter pack to one thousand starters which is in-line with Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Agriculture Anchor Borrower’s Programmes.
He called on the youths who were trained by Government in different Agricultural value chains by Resource persons from the federal ministry of Agriculture and presidency to revalidate their membership with their local Govt coordinators with their cooperative identification cards and brochure as well as Bank details which will be forwarded to the Bank of Agriculture for disbursement of the fund for the 2019 farming season.
Mr Ibiam thanked the youths for their loyalty to Governor Ikpeazu led administration and patience in the disbursement of the fund and urged them to continue supporting the present administration as well as remain law abiding citizens.
