Former Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Nigeria’s nominee for the office of the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged winner of the highly competitive race.
According to multiple reports on Wednesday afternoon, Okonjo-Iweala defeated her only challenger, South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee, by a wide mathe Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). She was said to have polled 104 votes from 164 member nations ahead of her South Korea”s Trade Minister at the final stage of the race.
The official announcement is expected to be made by the WTO later on Wednesday.
