CHINESE GOVERNMENT BEGINS FUNDING FOR ABIA SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

 
The efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to empower Abia Youths with life skills that will lead to enduring and sustainable livelihood today received international endorsement and boast from the Chinese government through her Embassy in Abuja.
This was at the cheque presentation ceremony in Abuja. The representative of the Chinese Embassy Mr Huang who made the presentation said the the Chinese Government have watched with keen interest the development strides of Governor Ikpeazu and his desire to leverage on the technological development of China to develop Abia State. They were particularly thrilled about the existing business relationships existing between Abia/Chinese companies and the two governments. He applauded the Governor on the successful training of Abia Shoemakers in China and pledged that the Chinese government will make the support an annual project to support the programme of developing strong and skilled manpower that will enhance the Made in Aba campaign. He said they will support Abia develop critical manpower that will form the base of industrial Revolution needed to reposition Abia especially Aba as an economic hub in Nigeria.

Responding on behalf of the state government Chinenye Nwaogu and Endi Ezengwa of the Multi Disciplinary Skill Centre, the duo thanked the Chinese government for the gesture and pledged to ensure the project turns out a huge success.
Presenting the cheque to the Governor Mr Ezengwa thanked the governor for his Smart leadership in Abia that is attracting all kinds of international support and endorsement, he informed the governor that NABTEB is currently providing trainings in Abia to enhance technical education in Abia with the support of Ford Foundation. He said all these were coming because Governor has desmostrated transparency, accountability and capacity in governance. He further thanked Chinenye Nwaogu for deepening the Abia-Sino relationship which has began bearing fruits for the benefit of Abians.
An elated Governor Ikpeazu expressed appreciation to the Chinese government and all those who worked tirelessly to bring this to fruition. He opined that such are what he feels are the real dividends of democracy.
Meanwhile the formal launch of the project will hold at the Umuobiakwa Skill Centre later in the month with Chinese Ambassador present.
