The Chief Security Officer to the Governor, Sir Emeka Ubani has charged market leaders in Abia State to ensure that markets in the State are calm and peaceful.
Sir. Ubani was speaking in a meeting with the Chief Security Officers of the various markets in Aba and Umuahia, at the conference Hall of the wife of the Governor, government house, Umuahia.
He stated that he summoned the meeting mainly to inform them that Aba should be calm through their markets, noting that “If we get it right in the market, we get it right everywhere.”
The CSO, who disclosed that his ideology is equally that of the governor, which is to make sure Aba is calm and quiet to enable Governor Ikpeazu to achieve all he has set out to achieve.
While observing that the Governor inherited Aba without a good single road, a closed market as well as people relocating in their numbers because of insecurity, he maintained that Governor has been able to restore Aba markets, built hundreds of roads as well ensured that a peaceful Abia.
Sir. Ubani, who observed that information was vital effective policing, requested that they furnish his office with necessary information that will guide him for effective surveillance.
He informed them of his readiness to bring about the needed calmness in and around Aba within the next few weeks, saying that he would also want to go round to inaugurate their various security units.
He told them to get their various uniforms ready for identity and to enable him and his men know who they are dealing with in the markets. He maintained that such uniforms would be designed in such a way that only those of them in their security units will wear it and that no one will be able to buy such from the market.
Sir Ubani equally urged them to get walkie talkies for their units so for easy communication and to monitor situations and events happening within their various markets.
He used the opportunity to warm that none of you should be an instrument for the EndSARS campaign and to resist the bad eggs from hijacking it into becoming a political tool to destabilize the relative peace in the State.
He said: “The main reason why I called you here is to tell you that Aba should be calm through your markets. If we get it right in the market, we get it right everywhere.
“There’s a hand of God in Abia. God is using an instrument in the person of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. He’s setting a precedence, for those that will come after him.”
Sir Ubani added: “Bad boys have infiltrated the EndSARS campaign, so do not allow them to use your markets for the riot. I want to throw a challenge to all of you that I want you to make sure your markets are calm.”
He challenged them to take a cue from the CSO of Ariaria Market and his men noting that they are doing a good job to ensure that peace is maintained in the market.
