FOOTWEAR FACTORY GROUNDBREAKING: IKPEAZU MOVE TO IMPROVE FRONTIER FOR MAKE-IN-ABA

Abia State is now set to improve its frontiers of recognition beyond Africa and compete with the rest of the world in terms of leather and related works.
Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed this at Obuaku, Ukwa West LGA during the groundbreaking ceremony of the NIBRA Footwear Factory and Leather City Industrial Project, an Abia State Government Public Private partnership initiative aimed at revolutionizing the Aba footwear industries in the State.
Governor Ikpeazu charged Aba artisans to join NIBRA company and learn new ways of making shoes, assuring them of attracting more of such developments in the State.
Speaking at the event, the chairman, NIBRA Designs Limited, Dr. Wura Abiola, said its company and NIBRA Brazil came together for the international partnership which she described as the first in Nigeria as it will provide Brazilian technology to Nigeria’s leather and footwear sector. According to her, the project when completed will provide employment to Abia people and improve the economy of the State.
Contributing, Dr. Austin Ufomba and the Chief Executive Officer Abia Public Private Partnership (PPP), informed that the NIBRA project made up of the footwear company and leather park is a product that has come from three years of hard work. He further said that the project will revolutionize the leather and shoe business in Abia State and thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his efforts in promoting Made in Aba products.
