A budget of 139.5 billion naira has been presented by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu with a promise to complete the ongoing projects in the State among others.
In his speech at the State House of Assembly where he presented the 2019 budget estimate, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu assured to reinvigorate governance in Abia State. He said, he would increase IGR and ensure full realization of the five pillars of development of his administration.
According to him, attention would be made to realize the Enyimba Economic City project, adding that efforts will be made to deepen the achievements already made by the administration in the State.
According to him, all efforts are made to achieve a diversified State economy that would provide jobs for the unemployed in the State.
The budget christened “Budget of Consolidation”l has capital expenditure as 71.7 billion naira and the recurrent expenditure at 67.8 billion naira.
He called on the legislatures to continue to work together with him to move Abia forward and requested for prompt attention to the budget.
In his reaction, the Speaker of the State House, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Chikwendu Kalu commended the Governor for presenting a budget that is in line with the best international practices.
The Speaker assured the Governor that the House would give accelerated passage to the budget.
