GOVERNOR IKPEAZU RECEIVES ABIANS IN DIASPORA, SAYS HE WOULD WORK WITH THEM[PHOTOS]

Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has welcomed a team of Abians in diaspora and said he is committed to working with them to boost his education development policy.

The Governor made this known while receving in audience, a delegation of Abians in Disapora,who live in the United Kingdom.

He assured that his administration would continue to run an all inclusive government and carry every sincere group or individual that is ready to assist him realize his dream of developing Abia State.

The Governor appreciated the group for its decision to assist in paying school fees and providing scholarship of an estimated 500 students in the State between now and 2023.

While introducing the team to the Governor, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Dr. Ngozi Erondu said the group meant well for the State as it has a plan of providing two months placement programme of some final year university students of Abia State, who would be sponsored to undergo work experience in the United Kingdom at the expense of the Abia indigenes living in UK among other programmes.

Speaking earlier, President of Abians in diaspora, UK, Mr. Uche Kay unveiled their educational plans to the Governor, saying that they target to provide scholarship for about 500 Abia children from JSS 1 to SS3. He said that the plan is to start with five children from each Local Government Area of the State on yearly bases.

The President, who lauded the Governor for his achievements so far expressed joy that their support for him from 2015 till now is not in vain also invited the Governor to their ground breaking event for the building of their Diaspora Village in the State.
