GOVERNOR IKPEAZU REINVIGORATES ABIA STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has announced the re-invigoration of the Abia Scholarship Board with effect from 2017.
Dr. Ikpeazu made this public while speaking at the Senator T. A. Orji’s Annual Scholarship Scheme Award Ceremony in Umuahia today.
According to the Governor, ten persons will be benefiting for each year through the scholarship board. He recommended the template of the committee to the Board as the Committee he believes the Committee was transparent in selecting award recipients.
Dr. Ikpeazu also provided scholarship award to two physically challenged persons each in the six Local Government Areas of the Abia Central zone and said he believes that there is ability in disability.
The Governor commended Senator Orji for the project and said that he was happy with his score card so far and urged his constituents to always depend on him  as the Senator’s integrity was not in doubt.
He called on the the recipients of the scholarship award to use the money strictly for academics, maintaining that it was not a licence for frivolities nor irresponsible expenses and told them that the only way to show gratitude to the. Senator was to excel in their academics.
Earlier, the Senator representing Abia Central and donor, Chief T. A. Orji stated that he knew education was the key, so he decided to assist in scholarship,saying that the project has direct impact on the people. He stated that ten persons in each of the six LGAs, five intelligent and five indigent persons were selected for the scholarship. Senator Orji who said that he did the project to support the State, and federal governments, encouraged the beneficiaries to prove themselves by performing well in school and called on Abians to support the administration of  Dr. Ikpeazu
Speaking on behalf of other Chairmen, the Umuahia North Executive Chairman, Hon. Nwachukwu Chidiebere thanked the Senator for his constituency projects and urged other representatives of the people to do same. He pledged support to the administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Scholarship Board, Engr. Emma Nwabuko said that the scholarship was the 2nd edition, stressing that no partiality was involved in the selection of the beneficiaries. He further informed that the criteria employed for choosing awardees were persons who are naturally endowed and those who are indigent students. Engr. Nwabuko maintained that all beneficiaries applied online through www.senatortaorji.com.  He further invited other students of Abia Central origin to ensure they apply for the 3rd edition coming up in 2018.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, who is visually impaired, Mr. Ifeanyi Frank, from Ikwuano LGA thanked Senator T. A. Orji for his gesture towards them. He also appreciated the Committee members for their assistance and prayed God to bless him. He thanked the Governor of Abia State and asked him to extend such gratitude to his wife for taking care of his academics.
