Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has congratulated Chief Jerry Kalu and members of his age grade in Igbere on their Traditional Retirement Ceremony, Igboto-Mma
Speaking at Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu commended the age-longed Traditional Retirement being uphold by the Igbere community, especially the developments the tradition has attracted to the communities and recommended such institution to be introduced in all communities in Igbo land.
The Governor used the opportunity to announce the readiness of his administration to accept and employ Doctors who would volunteer to work in the government hospitals established in their various communities, especially in Igbere, Bende LGA and Isuikwuato LGA.
Governor Ikpeazu, who thanked the age grade for building Doctors ‘ quarters affirmed that what makes a functional hospital is when the medical personnel reside in such a hospital and told the people to let the government know of indigenous Medical Doctors, who would want to volunteer to work in the hospitals.
He congratulated Chief Jerry Kalu on his successful retirement from the active communal service and urged him and members of his age grade to continue to give necessary advice to the younger generation as well as charged the youths to make the retirees their role models in contributing towards developmental agenda of their communities.
In a speech, the Chairman, Organising Committee of the Traditional Retirement Ceremony and Eze Ndigbo, Ikeja, Lagos, Eze Uche Dimgba told the history of Igboto Mma and appreciated Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for coming to celebrate with them.
He disclosed that the retiring age grade
among other things, built a Doctors quarters in Igbere and appealed to the government of Dr. Ikpeazu to make the government hospital in the community functional and effective assuring the Governor of their block vote to re-elect him in 2019
