HISTORY MADE AS ABIA GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF FIRST FLYOVER IN ABIA STATE.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged-off the construction of the first flyover concrete bridge in Abia State.
Performing the ground breaking ceremony at Osisioma Junction, Aba, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said the project was conceptualized in order to ease traffic congestions in the town.
He stated that he decided to focus on infrastructure in Aba to reduce time spent in shuttling Aba and other towns, as well as ease trade and commerce within Aba and environs. He reiterated that the idea of fixing Aba first has yielded result as Abia State Internally Generated Revenue has risen from #600 million to #1.1 billion.
The Governor, who said that his administration will replicate the same infrastructural development in all the three Senatorial Zones of the State, assured that the flyover bridge will be built with best quality materials as substandard materials will not be accommodated.
Dr. Ikpeazu called on Aba residents to desist from erecting soak-aways and drainage channels close to the main road.
According to the Governor, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will soon visit the State to see some of the projects, even as Aba brand of shoes & bags are promoted and widely recognised by the Federal government.
He challenged Abians to speak well about Abia and thanked God for the privilege of serving Abians.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu disclosed that the House will continue to support the Governor as all the money appropriated to the executive arm of the government are been properly utilized. He assured Dr. Ikpeazu that the House will do whatever that is necessary to support him, saying that they are solidly behind him.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Chief Eziuche Ubani revealed that building of the flyover was one of the Governor’s campaign promises which is being fulfilled. He enumerated the economic importance of the flyover, including attracting investors to the State. The Commissioner appealed for maximum support from the people and residents of the communities around the site.
Welcoming the Governor, the Executive Chairman, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Hon.
Iheyinna Ositadinma Mgbeahuru conveyed the gratitude of the people of Osisioma to the Governor. In his words ” This is the first time in the history of Abia State and Osisioma in particular that a ground was been broken to construct a flyover bridge”
In their various speeches,the PDP State Chairman, Sir Johnson Onuigbo, Eze Eberechi Dick and an Elderstatesman, Elder(Dr.) Emma Adaelu all appreciated the ingenuity of the Governor in embarking on such a project.
They said that by that giant stride, Abians have seen the essence of voting Dr. Ikpeazu into power.
The contract is being undertaken by a Chinese construction firm, China Zhonghao Nigeria.
