Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has vowed to utilize approriately, the 57 billion naira NEWMAP grant and the 200 million dollars federal government approved World bank loan granted to Abia State.
The Governor made this known while addressing Abians at International Conference Centre
during the grand finale of 26th anniversary of Abia Day celebrations.
According to the Governor, the 57 billion naira grant by the Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project(NEWMAP), is for tackling erosion and sanitation issues in various areas of the State.
He used the opportunity to call on all Abians to join him to develop the State, he maintained that “if we work together, we will fulfil our heart desires”.
Dr. Ikpeazu thanked the Abia founding fathers for their sacrifices to make the State great, urged all to maintain the legacies they left.
Making a remark, the Chairman of the ocassion and one of the founding fathers, Ezeogo Anagha Ezeikpea, encouraged Abians to move forward and requested the Governor and the House of Assembly to enact the Abia charter of equity into law.
The event featured the award of Enyi Abia and Ugo Abia to deserving Abians and non Abians alike as well as lecture by Prof. Uche Ikonne.
