IKPEAZU INAUGURATES NEWLY ELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN IN ABIA (See photos)

Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in the newly elected Executive Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas in Abia State and their Deputies.

Speaking while performing the function at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu charged them to do strategic thinking that would bring about economic development of their areas as well as a better life for their people.

He stressed the need for them to jump-start economic development by seeking to leverage on those economic indices where they enjoy relative comparative advantage.

The Governor tasked the new Chairmen seize the opportunity of their election as a platform to contribute to the political and economic development of their areas.

He said there is no one era or political regime that is exactly the same hence the need for them to think outside the box on new imperatives of development.

The Governor said that they were to do a sober reflection as the task ahead was arduous and challenging. He urged them to abridge their celebration and realize that their election is a call to duty as the expectations of people on them are very high.

He admonished them to address the issue of security squarely as well as to look at various project already in place in their localities with a view to making them flourish.

Responding on behalf of the other Chairmen, the Executive Chairman Obingwa LGA, Hon. Ibe Nwoke said that their election was a privilege for them to continue with the Governor’s vision and reassured that they will remain focused in helping the Governor realize his goals.

The Oath of Office was administered on the Chairmen and their Deputies by the Solicitor General of the State, Barr. Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne.

ABIA ONLINE reports that the Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, former Governor of the State, Senator T A Orji, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, State Chairman of the PDP, Rt Hon Allwell Asiforo Okere, Members of the State Executive Council, Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Joseph Nwabeke, including other top officials of the State Government witnessed the event.
