The State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has commissioned the Umudere-Olokoro ultramodern Civic centre as way to flag-off the One Ward, One Project Initiative of the present administration.
Speaking while commissioning the building at Umudere-Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu said that the One Ward, One Project Initiative was aimed at carrying out, at least one project in each political ward of the State.
He went ahead to inform that it is part of the efforts of his administration to run an inclusive government involving key stakeholders in various communities in the State, assuring that the projects would expand from rural communities to urban ones.
The Governor equally promised to make available one million naira for the community to drill bore-hole and purchase some chairs for the hall and encouraged Development Union leaders to work with the government to identify projects that the people would appreciate very well, expressing joy that people are happy over the civic centre that was built.
He promised to do such projects that are dear to people’s hearts.
He thanked the people of Umudere-Olokoro community for conferring on him the chieftaincy title of Omereoha 1 and urged the youths to ensure the project is protected from vandals.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman, Umuahia South, Prince Eze Ogbulafor appreciated the Governor for coming to the community two times within two weeks and building of the project which he said was a prove that he truly loves the people of Umuahia South and said he should not border himself for coming to campaign in Olokoro community and entire Umuahia South as they would give him the needed support and ensure he is re-elected.
In his speech, the Co-ordinator, One Ward, One Project Initiative , Chief Ike Onyenweaku thanked the Governor for being a man of his words by fulfilling his campaign promise of doing at least one project in each ward and said that the project was of high quality
He further said that, for achieving that feat, the people would continue to trust him and even mobilize themselves to draw more support to him especially in voting him again in 2019
Conferring the chieftaincy title of Omereoha 1 on the Governor, the Traditional Ruler of Umudere-Olokoro, Eze Godwin Ebo praised the leadership style of the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and said his subjects would ensure he comes back for a second tenure as the Governor of Abia State.
