The One-Stop Shop built by the Abia State government to drive the five pillars of development of the Okezie Ikpeazu administration and fast-track investment in the State will be commissioned soon by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Also to be ready soon, is the International Conference Centre in Ogurube layout, Umuahia.
Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed these while interacting with the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia during a town-hall meeting. He said that necessary things will be fixed in the international centre to make it ready for use, assuring that the State will continue with other projects inherited by former administrations as much as its income can carry and maintained that government is a continuum.
Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu used the opportunity to announce that government has procured 50 transformers which will be distributed to communities and said that all the applications by communalities to get the transformers must have the signatures of their President Generals to ensure that the transformers will actually reach the people they were meant for.
He enjoined Abians to go back to the Igbo paradigm, where Igbos are known to be proud of whatever they can provide. He therefore encouraged people to go into farming, promising to make available #20 to #50 thousand naira each to rice farmers in the State, with a condition that they must in return give government a bag of their produce and called for those in cashew, cocoa, cassava and palm oil farming to partner with government so as to get better seedlings for their better result. The Governor expressed hope that by December, 2017 Abians will no longer
import local rice as Abia farmers will be able to produce enough for the State. He reported that that his administration attracted Arab contractors to fix Aba road, assuring the people that the company will deliver a nice job and promised to ensure that silvery coated street light will be fixed in the road to give Umuahia the aesthetic look that a capital city deserves.
