Members of the Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) South East zone has honoured Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu with an award of Most Humble Governor For Grass-root Mobilization.
Presenting the award at the Executive Chambers of Government House Umuahia, the National President, Alhaji Comrade Kabir Sani Garba and the Vice President of RATTAWU, South East, Comrade Emeka Kalu commended the Governor for his various achievements in the State so far.
The union leaders congratulated the Governor on his deserved electoral victory, saying that the election victory shows that Abia people have again demonstrated their confidence on him. They added that it is a testimony to the Governor’s commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Responding, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu thanked RATTAWU for the award. He used the opportunity to charge RATTAWU and the members of the NIPR, Abia State Chapter that came for a courtesy visit along side RATTAWU to use their trade as professionals to run evidence-based publicity and enlighten the people properly, against the backdrop of social media that lacks credibility.
He urged them to build Nigeria economy with sound media coverage, adding that Nigerians need to know the real developmental efforts of various governments including Abia. Dr. Ikpeazu informed his audience of his achievements in the last four years and reiterated his resolve to doing more in the second tenure. He emphasized that his government is aggressively driving the State economy as he wants to make Abia the hub for food processing clusters in Nigeria.
The Governor, who said that he is running a trans-generational administration said that he is poised to actualize the Enyimba Economic City which would provide jobs for over 700 thousand people in the State.
