MRS. IKPEAZU LAUDS SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME IN ABIA

Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has used the occasion of the 2017 BCA Father Christmas Extravaganza to laud the current School Feeding Program of the State government.
Mrs. Ikpeazu made her feelings known while Declaring open, the event at the premises of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, BCA in Umuahia.
According to the Governor’s wife, the School Feeding Programme has contributed immensely in improving the performance of Abia school children.
Mrs Ikpeazu, represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Lady Vivian Ude Oko Chukwu, emphasized that the Dr Okezie Ikpeazu led administration was zealously pursuing the school feeding program with vigour and assured of the continuation of the programme, especially as it has been yielding great results.
The Wife of the Governor used the opportunity to highlight various children – oriented programmes of the present administration in the State and called on the children to see the Christmas period as a time of sober reflection and learn the humility of Jesus Christ, who in spite of being God, allowed himself to be born in manger.
She congratulated Abia children on their Father Christmas Extravaganza programme and made donations of various gifts to the children.
Also speaking , the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu who doubled as the special guest of honour praised the BCA management for regularly organizing the Christmas Extravaganza to usher the children of the state into the yuletide.
He assured of the continuous support of the Ikpeazu administration for programs aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of Abia children.
Chief Okiyi Kalu maintained that the State government was committed to making necessary sacrifices to guarantee better and great future for children in Abia State, who he said have made government proud through their consistent lead in public examinations, such as WAEC.
He disclosed that, it is because of the premium the present administration places on the welfare of Abia children that it decided to prioritize the payment of their teachers salary with the expected third tranche of the Paris Club Refunds, stressing that government would continue to do its bit in the upbringing and welfare of Abia children.
In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, called on the children and their parents not to forget the essence of Christmas which is a period Christians all over the world commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the saviour of the whole world.
He urged Abia people and residents to remember to support the less privileged among them, especially, the indigent children, as they celebrate Christmas, saying that, that is the best way to celebrate Christmas.
Earlier in his address, the Director General of BCA, Sir Uchenna Dike, thanked the Governor of Abia state for his support to the management and staff of BCA.
Sir Dike assured that BCA would continue to remain partner in progress in the development agenda of the Ikpeazu led administration.
He enjoined the children to relax and enjoy the fun fair that goes with the BCA Father Christmas Extravaganza programme.
