It was Joy and excitement galore at Mgboko-Umocha in Obingwa Local Government Area of the State as Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu commissioned and handed-over a two-bedroom bungalow she built for a widow, Mrs. Patience Nwarungwa.
Commissioning the house, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu thanked God for providing the resources with which she was able to put-up the building for the indigent widow.
She prayed God to be with the beneficiary and bless the house with peace and joy and comfort.
Speaking at the event, a PDP stakeholder in Obingwa Local Government Area, Chief Ezinwa Abiri appreciated the Wife of the Governor for providing a beautiful shelter for a widow, who had no help. He said the people were happy with the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and his administration, saying that, he has started fixing some of their roads like, Umuocha, Obete, Ofekobe among others as well as appointments of their indigenes as aids to the Governor.
Chief Abiri pledged that the Mgboko community would continue to both the Governor and the wife and would ensure the Governor is re-elected, come 2019 to complete his eight years in office.
In their separate speeches, Pastor I. C Egbu of the Seventh – Day Adventist Church, Nnanyereugo Aharanya, Victoria and others informed that the poor widow has been without a roof on her, since her thatch house collapsed and she has been sleeping from one person’s house to another.
They appreciated Mrs. Ikpeazu for fulfilling her promise to the woman by coming for her rescue, saying that they have not seen such a passionate Governor’s wife like Mrs. Ikpeazu and vowed to ensure that Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is re-elected for a second tenure in 2019.
Earlier, the beneficiary of the building, Mrs. Patience Nwarungwa, who was speechless, thanked Mrs. Ikpeazu for her benevolence and prayed for long life, prosperity and blessings on her. Also, the daughter of the beneficiary, Adaku Nwarungwa said since the demise of their father and the collapse of their thatch house , they have tried all they could and no one could help out, but God through Wife of the Governor has done it for them. She thanked Mrs. Ikpeazu and stressed that it is only God that would reward her for her kind gesture.
It could be recalled that the Governor’s wife, during a child dedication of an Mgboko – Umocha indigene and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr. Newman Ubani, at Seventh – Day Adventist Church, Umuocha, Obingwa LGA , two months ago, promised to build a house for a widow in the community, who’s husband has died several years ago.
