The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo has officially launched the the N Power programme in Abia State.
Launching the programme at the Multiskill and Entrepreneurship Development centre in Umuobiakwa Obingwa Local Government Area of the State, the Vice President commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for ensuring that the skill acquisition centre where the N Power participants are trained was established, stressing that the skill acquisition centre is perfectly in line with Federal government’ vision to provide resources for youths to excel.
He assured that the Federal government would sustain the N power programme and charged N powder students to be committed with the programme. The Vice President thanked Abia State government for its efforts to cue into Federal government empowerment programmes.
In his speech, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu requested the Federal government to address the impetus on executive order number three to monitor what importers bring into the country.
According to Dr Ikpeazu, the way to encourage the youths is to patronize made in Nigeria goods such Made in Aba garments, shoes , furniture etc. He applauded the Chinese government for providing a grant to train many youths in Abia State. The Governor advised the youths to endeavour to learn one skill or the other and avoid sitting at home to complain of no job, stressing that government will continue to create enabling environment and patronize their handiwork.
Earlier, the Abia State Focal person on Social Investment, Mr Chinenye Nwogu said social investment programme is on ground in Abia and narrated how it has been functioning. He thanked the Governor for ensuring Avians are part of the social investments by providing the enabling environment.
The Vice President also used the visit to inspect the Ariaria International market electricity project aimed at giving uninterrupted power to the market.
