A Coalition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Human Right Lawyers has asked Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court, Abuja, to fast track the trial of a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu over alleged N7.6bn fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Leader of the Coalition, Hon. Uche Okoroafor said at a press conference yesterday in Abuja, that Kalu was allegedly plotting a “fake” foreign medical trip, adding that his agenda was to stall the further hearing of the case coming up today.
“We heard it on good authority that the former governor and his cohorts are working on another round of fake foreign medical trip in a fresh bid to frustrate his resumed hearing for the second time.
“He did it last year when he claimed to have gone to Germany a number of times for medical treatment. We have since discovered that it was fake. Today, he wants to replay a similar game to stall his resumed trial and we are saying enough is enough,” the coalition said.
