It was an astounding experience in Osaa Ukwu, Obingwa LGA as Hon. A. C. Thomas Nkoro, representing the people of Obingwa West State gave out 4 vehicles, 2 motorcycles, over 200 bags of rice and a whooping sum of money to celebrate with his constituents in the spirit of the yuletide season.
It is indeed the first time a lawmaker by this singular gesture is changing the narrative of political leaders who give out peanuts to constituents who sacrificed all they could to elect them into office.
Handing over one of the keys to one of the recipients the PDP LGA Chairman Mr. Kingsley Ijeoma Nnaji, Col. Augustine Akobundu PDP national organizing secretary and former minister for state, defence stated that Hon. Nkoro has set a pace of modern day empowerment to the people of his constituency and called on other leaders to follow suit.
In his own reaction, the speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chikwendu Kanu while handing over one of the keys to another recipient, Mrs. Caroline Uzorije, the LGA PDP women leader noted that Hon. Nkoro has distinguished himself even in the house of Assembly by his leadership prowess and added that this gesture is the first of its kind in the annals of leadership in Abia in the recent time.
Other recipients of the cars include; Mr. Emeka Awudu, PDP secretary, Obingwa LGA and Mr. Chukwuma Akpu George.
Motorcycles were given to some youths resident in the villages. Other items distributed were over 200 of rice to the 6 political wards in his constituency.
The people of Obingwa west showed high level of ecstasy as they described Hon. Nkoro’s gesture as unprecedented as no other leader has come close to what Hon. Nkoro has done.
It could be recalled that in June, 2017 Hon. Nkoro distributed farm inputs for farmers such as fertilizers and grinding machines and empowered artisans with hair driers.
In October 31st 2017, Hon. Nkoro gave out 14 motorcycles to some party leaders in Obingwa.
Hon. Nkoro promised a recurrence of such programmes in his constituency and pleaded with those who have not received such gifts from him to remain committed as he is committed to empowering his constituents ever more.
