RANTING OF ABIA OPPOSITION: AN IGNORAMUS EXPOSITION

I have noted with gross dismay, the unguided comments made by one of the Abia opposition’s media jumpologist in an attempt to blackmail the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration, dishing out usual junkated propagandistic lies against this dynamic government.
It may not be politically correct to join issues with every allegation emanating from this derelict minute oppositions in the State, as such responses tend to dignify beer parlour gossips. But in order to ensure that this unscrupulous element does not succeed in deceiving some gullible Abia people and residents with media venom and concoction, I wish to use few lines here to expose his deceptive posture.
This political jobber had the effrontery to state that “As at today Okezie has failed in Education, He has failed in Health, He has failed in Agriculture, He has failed as regards looking after workers welfare, Okezie has failed in providing Needed infrastructure. He has failed in Job creation…” The fellow also went ahead to make a laughable statement that the Majority of the few Roads the Governor is doing are still work in progress and that he does not know the cost of those roads, adding that the few he knew were very overpriced. He further said that when the case of Lassa Fever was suspected in FMC, CDC Abia State claimed not to have resources to convey specimen to Irrua, the diagnostic centre in Nigeria, also that the State doesn’t have a single stock of antiviral for Lassa Fever, that the Health personnel had to get stock from Enugu.
It is common knowledge that the trouble with carving a rotten wood is that it always ends as an exercise in futility. Hence, this individual is wasting his time in this useless attempt to malign the person of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, whose towering achievements are second to non in Nigeria.
It is pertinent to note that this piece alone cannot accommodate all the achievements of the Governor from 2015 till date. However, there is a growing need to remind Abia people, especially, those who live outside the State that those allegations are false and baseless; that they should be discountenanced by all and sundry.
We invite every one to come to the State to see things themselves. Recall that, recently, the media tour organized in the State proved that the Governor, a silent achiever was being under reported by the media based on the works on ground. Many roads have been built and many ongoing, Faulks road and the Ukwumago that had defied all efforts to fix, first ever flyover in the State at Osisioma-Aba.
A visit should be paid to the Aba road in Umuahia, with a view to seeing the wonders of Okezie Ikpeazu Ph.D.
The wonders of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in health sector is glaring. Apart from setting up of surveillance team for Lassa fever and other epidemics, the Governor has introduced free healthcare services for the elderly in the State and carried out many health interventions, including reviving general hospitals, of which Aba General hospital is among the beneficiaries as it was reopened after years of abandonment.
May we report to any one who cares that the Abia State Ministry of Health has a stock of antiviral for Lassa Fever and other deceases.
It is on record that, in Education, model schools have been built and many dilapidated school buildings are been renovated as Free school meal initiative is extended from Primary 1 to 6 to all levels of primary school pupils. Abia children have maintained first position in WAEC for three consecutive years and ABSU has remained in leading position in Law school. So, how has Ikpeazu failed in that regard?
In Agriculture, among other things,
Poultry cluster has been established at Umuosu-Nsulu, palm oil seedlings raised, mushroom production farm established and Abia rice is being produced.
Governor Ikpeazu has changed the narratives of Empowerment / Entrepreneurship.
The first set of 30 youths have gone to learn automated shoemaking in China and others are been trained in other several skill acquisitions, including, modern carpentering, garment production and modern brick laying.
In as much as we do agree that informed criticisms from the opposition are touchstone of constitutional democracy every where in the world, this must be done in good conscience and not to be blind to good governance. Therefore, caution has to be employed by all. I find it disconcerting and ungracious to the government of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, that the efforts of the present administration would be cajoled in the name of politics.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed!
