Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the extension of the ongoing reconstruction of Aba Road in Umuahia to the Express Junction at Ubakala.
Commissioner for Works, Rt. Hon. Eziuche Ubani disclosed this to newsmen in a chat.
The idea behind the extension, he said, is to help decongest Umuahia town which is fundamentally built up by opening up new areas around the Ubakala region which is where the future of Umuahia lies.
In addition, the extension will help create another first class entrance into our capital city apart from the one at Abia Tower. This, he said, will help beautify the state capital.
Arab Contractors, the company handling the project will continue with it.
The original plan was to cover the distance between the railway crossing just after Isi Court and Eastern Comfort Hotel. The project will now terminate at the Ubakala junction along the Enugu – PH highway.
