The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says he is impressed at the quality and speed of work done in Aba metropolis.
Inspecting the roads, the Governor said the works are progressing accordingly as the roads are done in line with the designs and specifications. He disclosed that the five roads being constructed at the popular Amanmong area of Ngwa road, comprising Aharandu through Onyebuchi and Ibandan streets, Ibere street and linking roads to Obohia roads are all progressing well. He further instructed the contractor to make sure the projects are concluded in four months.
At Brass, through Faulks road, the Governor said, because of the anticipated heavy traffics in the road, a round-about will be constructed at Brass junction by Okigwe road. He further instructed that every obstacle on the roads undergoing constructions be removed to enable the contractors carry out their work with the designed plan. He condemned the action of some people who channeled their sewage and soak-aways to the main roads.
Dr. Ikpeazu appreciated the stone-base being done at the Ukwumango axis of the Faulks road. He also appreciated the plan to recover Ifeobara basin and assured that an alternative route will be created to ensure the work is not distracted by the traffic ahead of the Christmas.
Conducting the Governor through the sites, the Commissioner for Works, Chief Eziuche Ubani said the roads were being done in tandem with the designs and specifications. He pointed some spots where more attentions would be given and stated that some buildings blocking the roads have been identified and assured they will be handled.
Some roads inspected include , Brass, Faulks, Aharandu through Onyebuchi to Ibadan street, Ngwa road through Emelogu street, New Umuahia road and Owo-Ahiafo.
