Media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye, has rubbished speculations that captain of the team, John Mikel Obi and his vice, Onazi Ogenyi, are not on speaking terms.
Ibitoye, reacting to the story on Twitter, called it the “biggest and fattest lie in town right now”.
When quizzed about it by a fan, he simply retweeted the link and said: “This is the biggest and fattest lie in town right now…Please discountenance it COMPLETELY.”
There is reported tension in Nigeria’s camp ahead of the 2018 World Cup, over a rumoured stand-off between Mikel Obi and Onazi.
Onazi has already denied that his relationship with the Tianjin TEDA midfielder is strained.
Onazi was left out of the team that lost 1-0 to Czech Republic, after struggling against England last week.
The former Lazio star is fighting for a starting spot, when Gernot Rohr names his team to take on Croatia on June 16
