Abia state government has launched the fifteen billion naira Abia State Security Launch and unveil security card in the State.
Performing the ceremony at International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu called for the support of all and sundry in sustaining security in Abia State. He said that the security card which looks like the automated teller machine (ATM) card can be used to load withdrew money any where in the world.
According to the Governor, the security card with micro chip has the recognition of its owner and cannot be tampered by another person. Dr. Ikpeazu also informed that soon a foundation laying ceremony would be performed at Ukwa to provide quarters for the soldiers.
Governor Ikpeazu pointed out that he is looking forward to seeing when Abia will mount close circuit television, CCTV to enable security agents track and arrest criminals within a short period of time even car snatchers.
He thanked the Nigeria Army, the Police, State Security Services, Immigration, Prisons, Security and Civil Defence Corps in the State for their doggedness to ensure that criminals do not find safety in Abia. Ikpeazu maintained that with the security card, the future of Abians will be better and called for business persons including Ndi Igbo to take advantage of security in Abia state to invest and do business in the state.
Dr. Ikpeazu thanked God that Abians enjoyed their 2017 Christmas season without any bad news of criminality, adding that since 2015 the administration came on board, Abia has not recorded any Bank robbery.
He further encouraged all to support the launch of the security card for the benefit of all.
Earlier in their separate speeches, the Chairman of the occasion, Prince Sunny Aku and Organising Committee Chairman of the security fund launch, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai said that security is every body’s business.
They observed that no economy or development can strive without security, hence appealed to all to support Governor Ikpeazu to succeed.
