TIME TO STEP UP BATTLE AGAINST CRIME HAS COME – Governor Ikpeazu.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has urged the Federal government to procure trackers for the States of the federation and deduct the money installmentally from the source, as the gadgets would help track down criminal elements in the country.
The Governor made his view known while receiving in audience, the General Officer Commanding, 82 Division, Nigeria Army, Enugu, Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar.
Dr. Ikpeazu commended the military both at the federal and State levels for their jobs especially their gallantry in combating insurgency in the North and good relationship and confidence built in Abia State.
The Governor, who said that time to battle violence crimes has come, called for synergy among the military in the neighboring Commands, saying that the synergy would help them fight criminals that spill-over to other States.
He said the need to step-up security in Aba, the SME capital of Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized and promised to do everything to encourage them.
Furthermore, Governor Ikpeazu noted that oil installations in Owazza community is being protected by military from Rivers, he asked the GOC to look into it so that it will be easier for Abia Govt to intervene should there be any bridge in relationship between oil workers and locals. He also asked the military to monitor our bothers so as to secure the State from hoodlums operating from neighboring States.
Earlier, Major Gen. Adamu Abubakar said the military was committed to providing the much needed security in Aba and the entire Abia State. He thanked the Governor for his continuous support to the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia and vowed to re-enforce the Command.
