Vicar Hope Foundation drives UN habitat New Urban agenda in Abia State.

It has become obvious that no sacrifice is too great to make in caring for Abians especially for those at rural areas and slums within our cities.
Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu’s romance with caregiving was blown open right after her dear husband came into power in the year 2015; as she, with the support of her husband launched the Vicar Hope Foundation in Abia State.
She wasn’t just interested in providing care, she wanted to make this care available in it’s best possible form.
She sought to understand global trends and how her passion for care giving could align with world standards.
With her zeal on fire, she paid attention to the outcomes of the UN General Assembly on 21st of October 2015 in Quito, and the expected governmental and non-governmental responses towards implementing the New Urban Agenda.
The New Urban Agenda was basically about setting new global standard for sustainable urban development, which geared towards helping societies rethink how to plan, manage and live in cities.
Her desire to achieve progress led her yet again with Vicar Hope Foundation as her platform, to partner with Dr. Uchenna Onyeizu of the office of Abia state governor on Environment and Climate Change.
Vicar Hope Foundation participated in the just concluded UN GC high level (UN habitat) meeting, which resulted in Abia being chosen as one of the few places across the world to host the Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC). An event to select the next 74 cities across the globe for UN habitat’s full development supports.
This project in Nigeria will also be run in Lagos state, Rivers state and Kastina state.
The objectives of this project is centered on 3 components
(a) Infrastructure
(b) Human capital
(c) Human rights.
Other areas of focus will include :
*Essential access to formal Employment.
*Access to high level of education and many more.
This hosting will also be a brilliant opportunity to drive down the habitation challenges and housing needs of Abians and also clamour for supports in other areas at the global level.
To further emphasize UN’s commitment to the aforementioned goals, the President of UN General Assembly convenes a 2 day high level meeting of the general assembly on the 5th and 6th of September, 2017.
This meeting will highlight success stories in relation to the implementation of UN’s “New Urban Agenda”.
Vicar Hope foundation’s engagement with the UN habitat led to inviting Vicar Hope staff and other government officials to the ongoing high level meeting on New Urban Agenda in New York at the instance of the President of the 71st session of the Assembly.
Vicar hope foundation will also share numerous interventions carried out in providing housing and empowerments for the indigent people of Abia.
This has been Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu’s sojourn in ensuring the welfare of Abians.
And she will undoubtedly keep pushing until all stones are turned.
She had audience with the UN deputy Secretary General – HE Amina Mohamad at her office and discussed several development supports for Abia.
