GOV IKPEAZU DEBUNKS RUMOUR OF DEPUTY’S IMPEACHMENT

Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu PhD, has debunked speculations trailing social media about an ongoing plot to impeach the Deputy Governor of the state, Rt. Hon Ude Oko Chukwu.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, states that such rumours are unfounded as Governor Ikpeazu has no such plans and has never discussed such topics with anyone.

According to the statement, Gov Ikpeazu has the distinction of being the first Governor in the history of Abia State who has served with the same Deputy Governor for nearly seven years, and he aims to retain that record.

While Governor Ikpeazu’s natural expectation at this time is that his Deputy, Ude Chukwu would stand by him in steadying the ship of state as we approach a political transition period, rather than being distracted by his political ambitions, the Governor, as a true democrat, believes that such ambition is insufficient to justify any plans for impeachment.

Governor Ikpeazu’s attitude toward his Deputy is evident in the strong bond he has with the people of Nkporo, in the Ohafia Local Government Area, where the Deputy Governor hails from.

The statement also noted that the Deputy Governor is still very much a part of the governance process as he continues to serve as Chairman of the State Committee on Internally Generated Revenue, in addition to overseeing several other government functions.

It read, “Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s current concerns include continuing to provide democratic dividends to the people of Abia State, completing ongoing projects, and guiding our people to a seamless transition by next year.”
