GOV. IKPEAZU INAUGURATES FIRST PHASE OF ABA-UMUAHIA ROAD

The Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has officially inaugurated the first section of the reconstructed Aba-Umuahia-Isi court road with a promise to complete the second stretch by the end of the year.

During the inauguration ceremony, Governor Ikpeazu recounted the terrible state of the road that had met an impasse for several years before his administration reconstructed it in 2014.

“For the previous 35 years, the road had defied every solution and remained a nightmare for motorists, to the point where some joked that there was an evil spirit on the road.”

According to His Excellency, “Arab Contractors, a grade “A” construction firm, have done an excellent job on the first part of the road, and work on the second phase has begun, with completion scheduled by the end of the year.”

ABIA ONLINE gathered that the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Iyiorchia Ayu, spoke highly of Governor Ikpeazu during the inauguration and praised him for giving his people the benefits of democracy.

He encouraged the governor to devote the remaining months of his term to serving the Abia people so that he would be remembered when he left office.

Presenting an overview of the road project, the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu assured that as 70 per cent of the road rehabilitation has been completed so will the next segment be completed in a short time.

He also announced that the Osisioma interchange has been constructed and is ready for commissioning.

Also making remarks, the Executive Chairman of Umuahia South LGA, Engr. Benson, described the projects as historic, commending Gov Ikpeazu for delivering such high-quality infrastructure to his people.

He promised the Governor that the people of Umuahia South LGA will continue to back his administration and the PDP.
