MRS IKPEAZU BUILDS, HANDS OVER ANOTHER VILLAGE MARKET, GIVES START UP CASH TO WOMEN

Less than 24 hours after receiving a prestigious International award for her work on women empowerment, the Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Nkechi Ikpeazu has handed over market stalls with water borehole which she built for the community of Okpulo Umuolike Women in Isiala Ngwa North LGA.

Speaking while handing over the village market, Mrs Ikpeazu, who was represented by a former Commissioner for Vulnerable Persons, Mrs. precious Achumba, disclosed that women empowerment is one of her key agenda, noting that empowering women is equivalent to empowering a nation.

According to her, “Empowering women has been proven to have a very positive effect on the family. It reduces the issues of domestic violence, child rape and molestation, crime and the list is endless. According to her, some of the ugly issues emanate as a result of poverty while stating that the market will also help grow the local economy of the community.”

She maintained that she has continued to show very solid support to the women of Abia promising to continue in that light.

While moving further to empower 20 women with huge start up capitals from the Awadec Loan Scheme, the Abia First Lady charged them to be judicious while using the facilities provided to them.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Mr. Chinwendu Ochulo, appreciated the wife of the Governor for her Magnanimity towards his Local Government and promised of his Council’s undivided support for the administration of Governor Okezie lkpeazu.

Contributing, the Vice President of Vicar Hope Foundation, Dr. Edith Nwosu, reiterated that Vicar Hope Foundation is charged with the responsibilities of providing hope and succour to people where ever they go, adding that the market will serve as an economic booster to the community.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs kalu Jane said: “We are so delighted having witnessed this kind gesture from the mother of the state, we will continue to pray that heaven blessed her in Jesus name.”

ABIA ONLINE leant that Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu used the opportunity to distribute wrappers to elderly woman in each of the kindred that make up Okpulor Ngwa Umuolike.
