Police Vow Precision in Okuoma Crackdown: “Targets, Not Suspects”

In a resolute response to the brutal killings of 17 security operatives in Okuoma, Ugheli South Local Government Area of Delta State, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has pledged a focused campaign to apprehend those responsible. During an appearance on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’, NPF spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi communicated the force’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice through careful and targeted operations. Adejobi revealed that the police are currently engaging in rigorous security analyses and consultations with high-ranking officials, including the National Security Adviser (NSA), to strategize on capturing the culprits.

 

Highlighting the broader challenges faced by the country, Adejobi noted, “Not only in Niger Delta, we have pockets of issues across all the zones in the country. And it is our responsibility to have a peaceful Nigeria.” He underscored the communal distress caused by the recent violence in Delta State, emphasizing the collaboration between law enforcement, the Delta state governor, traditional rulers, and local communities in the manhunt for the attackers.

 

Adejobi assured the public that the police force is adopting a meticulous approach to ensure that only those directly involved in the attacks are pursued. “We are going to pick all of them one after the other without picking innocent people. The era of picking suspects is gone,” he stated, signaling a departure from past practices where broad sweeps could ensnare uninvolved individuals.

 

This incident has not only highlighted the security challenges within Delta State but also underscored the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to restoring peace and order through precision and collaboration, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for justice.
