IKPEAZU SIGNS 2020 BUDGET INTO LAW, PROMISES FULL IMPLEMENTATION

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has while assenting to the 2020 appropriation law declared that his administration would do all within its powers to the full implementation of the 2020 budget.

Dr. Ikpeazu who signed the Abia State 2020 appropriation bill of One hundred and thirty-seven billion, four hundred and nineteen million, six hundred and seventeen thousand one hundred and sixteen naira only, christened “Budget Of Economic Repositioning” into law at Government House, Umuahia, lauded the leadership of the State House of Assembly for their speedy passage of the bill.

The Governor said the budget was aimed at aiding the rapid development of the State as well as impacting on the lives of Abia people and assured if a timely execution of projects captured in the budget.

While observing that this was the first time he would be signing an appropriation law this early since his assumption of office, Ikpeazu promised to do better in terms of percentage performance as far as expected funds are available and advised various Ministries and implementation units to adhere to the budget.

Speaking on presenting the approved 2020 appropriation bill to the Governor, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Chinedum Orji said the House made it mandatory that the budget must be passed into law before the end of the year as it did not want delays or infractions.

The Speaker said the bill was passed into law to make the Governor’s work easier and expressed the hope that the Governor would ensure the full implementation of the document as presented by the house of Assembly.
