A WIDOW LIVING IN A HALF-BUILT TARPAULIN-MUD HOUSE GETS A BRAND NEW THREE-BEDROOM BUNGALOW
In a bid to keep the social contract between Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and Abia people, the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has not relented in ensuring that the people of the State feel good with the task of governance bestowed on her husband.
Mrs. Ikpeazu, through her pet project, Vicar Hope Foundation has been fulfilling her heartbeat of putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the State. She has been carrying out many intervention programmes in support of the husband: both in healthcare delivery, payment of hospital bills of indigent patients, training of people on various skill acquisition programmes, students sponsorship scheme amongst others. By these, the wife of the Governor has continuously affected lives positively.
However, Mrs. Ikpeazu seem to have affected many lives through her Indigent House Scheme (IHS) for widows and less privileged in the State. Her benevolence has once again reached out to an indigent widow, who, with her family, has been living in a half-built tarpaulin-mud house.
Just few days ago, the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu in her usual manner handed over a three-bedroom bungalow to a widow, Mrs. Catherine Samuel and her family. It was a celebration of life for the entire family, who used to live in a half-built mud house partly covered with tarpaulin.
In addition to this recent building, the wife of the Governor has so far built and handed over above 70 houses to indigent Abians. What a margin of achievements and work of resurrecting life and hope to less privileged persons in Abia State.
Mrs. Ikpeazu’s unrestrained acts of human kindness no doubts must have accounted to the overwhelming victory of her husband, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, in the just concluded gubernatorial election in the State. Prior to the elections, the Governor’s wife had done much “making-life-better” for Abians, especially, the less privileged. Her achievements in various aspects of livelihood support to different class of individuals must have played key roles that ensured the emergence of the Governor for a second tenure. Of course, the recent handover of three bedroom bungalow to Mrs Catherine Samuel is a pointer to the fact that she is now much more ready to continue with her magnanimous devotion towards the less privileged in the State.
It is important for Abia people and residents to sustain their support for this woman with the Midas Touch and her dear husband. This support should be garnered through discouraging acts of post election litigations that never favoured the State rather, it made the State and its challengers spend money, which would have been channelled towards developing the State in one way or the other.
