Just few days ago, the Abia State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) celebrated her service day, honouring the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph,D for his support for the scheme. Other highlight of the celebration included presentation of benefactors of the scheme.
The public was made to understand that the Abia State Emergency Medical Services has undertaken several emergency medical interventions, to save lives However, in yet another intervention after her celebration, the team saved yet another life. It was at about 5pm when the team received a call to attend to an emergency involving a female member of the vigilante group of Nigeria who was knocked down by a moving vehicle while on her duty post at a check point at Aba park. On arrival, the assessment of the Abia State Emergency Medical Services team revealed that the young lady was with severe avulsive bleeding wounds on both legs. As usual, members of the team ensured she maintained consciousness while they treated her wounds to stop the bleeding on the way to the hospital.
The good news about it is that the patient was stabilized, reassured and handed over to the medical staff of the Living Word Mission Hospital, Aba by 5:17pm.
Also they reported is the Abia EMS intervention in an incident of fire outbreak at Obohia which the team on duty arrived at the scene at about 5:40pm accompanied by Fire Service Department. The job was done perfectly by the EMS team and the Fire Service Unit and lives were saved, only properties were lost. The victims were reassured and cared for.
These were possible because of the avowed commitment by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, to deliver qualitative and affordable medical care to the good people and residents of Abia State. The Governor has never relented in
carrying out such healthcare initiatives in line with his promises to Abia people.
It must be pointed out that the establishment of Abia State Emergency Medical Services (Abia EMS), has the mandate of intervening in cases of victims of health emergencies in the State and ensuring that such victims receive access to immediate medical care before arriving at the hospital.
More importantly, this health emergency service is accessed through dialing a dedicated number: 08033556900. Once the call centre is reached, such patient/victim gets hope of being saved. The ambulances used for this emergency healthcare services are equipped with state-of-the-art intensive care equipment which are capable of sustaining patients’ life from the point they are picked to the point they would be handed over to a hospital for further medical attention. Also, the personnel who pilot the services are well trained medical personnel, who are ever ready to provide healthcare services to victims of health emergencies.
Through this particular scheme, Governor Ikpeazu has written his name on gold in the hearts of Abia people and residents. And it is obvious that the people would want these interventions and more to continue. The only way to achieve this is by voting the Governor and all his PDP candidates in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
