Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has inspected some model schools his administration has built including; Abayi Umuocham Primary and Secondary School in Osisioma Ngwa LGA and Osusu Amaukwa Primary and Secondary School in Obingwa LGA.

Speaking at the inspection sites, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu assured that his government would endeavour to build a model school each in all Local Government Areas in the State. He informed that his government has built four model schools with solar powered e-Libraries, laboratories and staff quarters. He said, the essence was to create a conducive academic environment for the pupils and students in Abia State public schools.

The Governor, who said his administration would devise a strategy to provide adequate security in the model schools being built revealed that he has rehabilitated 340 schools across the State.

Governor Ikpeazu disclosed that his government is set to clamp down on substandard schools in the State and assured that all schools in the State must meet minimum standards, adding that schools cannot be run in flats and residential buildings. This is against the backdrop of the recent school building collapse that claimed the lives of some pupils in Lagos State.
