Abia,the Gods Own State under Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, has witness unprecedented progress since taking over the mantle of leadership in May 29,2015.Dr. Ikpeazu remains one of the few governors in this political era to impact meaningfully in the life of it’s citizens through the delivery of good governance. The socioeconomic development of the state is attributable to the level of Dr. Ikpeazu’s transparency, and accountability in exercising political, economic and administrative authority. The governor in his nature has ensured that all institutions, public and private, as well as civil society organizations in the state are accountable to the public, the stakeholders and most importantly to those(Abians) who will be affected by their decision and action.
The outstanding performance of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and his giant stride in agriculture, education, health,security, trade and commerce speaks volume. The governor who is eager to fulfill his campaign promises, has also extensively and efficiently pursued infrastructural transformation by critically ensuring the effective functioning of the Abia State economy. The Governor’s choice of quality and innovation in road construction by introducing the rigid pavement technology also known as cement technology into the lexicon of road construction in Abia State speaks well of him.The good road network he has created is having a positive effect on the economic activities of the state and has boosted its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu quest in transforming the economic and infrastructural decay in Abia State bhas put him in the ladder of leaders that is worthy of emulation. Gov. Ikpeazu scorecard has taken over the lead,he is working tirelessly to develop the state by eradicating poverty, promoting sustainable growth of the state economy and infrastructural development, accelerating the empowerment of women and youths and integrating Abia State into the world economy. His building and strengthening our security system has create a good economic relationship between Abia and neighbouring states and even beyond. This has led to the enhancement of the effectiveness, efficiency, impact and sustainability of development in Abia State. Gov. Ikpeazu’s political commitment has led to the proactiveness and decision to handle and curtail violence and crisis in the state is quite commendable.
Three years down the line,our educational system under Gov. Ikpeazu has witness a different dimension and progress. His proactive inclination in giving the masses qualitative education has increased productivity and employment. The improvement in quality of teaching and providing conducive environment for learning has impacted positively on our society.
Gov. Ikpeazu is working assiduously hard to improve the standard of education in the state. For the sake of transparency, the reduction of financial stress and the improvement of the quality of education in state, upon assumption of office he initiated a pet project christened, the Friends of Abia School Adoption Initiative (FASAI).The pet project which is geared towards moving Abia forward is a private sector driven initiative and is aimed at involving well – meaning individuals within and outside the state to give back to the communities that moulded them,more especially the schools that raised them.
This pet project of the Governor is yielding fruits across the state.The Friend of Abia School Adoption Initiative (FASAI),adopts indigent pupils and renovates dilapidated school structures across the state. The effect of the upgraded school structures is enormous in the school system across the state and hope of those children are restored. Gov. Ikpeazu in the third quarter of 2017,flagged off the building of 4 model schools and 132 classroom blocks across the three senatorial zones of the state. Each of the new model schools will have ten classroom blocks, a library, laboratory, teachers’ quarters,sick bay,5 secondary and 3 primary classroom blocks,solar- powered water borehole, perimeter fence and headmaster’s quarters and right now the project is near completion.
This show how committed Gov. Ikpeazu is in making sure the state maintains it’s prime position in Nigeria educational system.
