The Sector Commander,Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Abia State, Mr Meshach A. Jatau expressed deep concern at the turn of events of how a peaceful protest led to so much damage that can hardly be quantified in monetary terms.

Mr. Jatau was speaking when he visited and inspected the extent of damage at the Drivers License Center Aba South which was razed down during the #EndSARS protest two weeks ago.

Recall that on 20 October, 2020, the #EndSARS protest in Aba was hijacked by hoodlums who racked havock on public facilities, burning and looting, in an unprecedented orgy of violence and destruction.

The Drivers License Center in Aba South was burnt down along with other State Government public facilities in the course of the fracas.

According to Mr. Jatau: “A lot of resources, labour and sacrifice was committed into erecting these structures, only to be incinerated in one moment of regrettable anger.

“Our youth should understand that two wrongs do not make a right. Therefore, we should always weigh the consequences of our actions before acting because, in retrospect, such actions will only leave us biting our fingers in regret.”

The FRSC boss commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for setting up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry with specific terms of reference towards restoration of peace and rebuilding of public offices in the State.

He also enjoined all Abians to make use of the Drivers’ License Center at Bende Road, Umuahia and that of Osisioma to process their driver’s license before the commencement of production of license in Aba South.

The Abia State Sector Commander was accompanied on the visit by a contingent of 144 Battalion Nigerian Army, Aba.
