Financial assistance is a necessity for many students, particularly those planning careers that require many years of education beyond the undergraduate level. Scholarships have many unique benefits including sound and qualitative education which is the pivot upon which any modern society revolves. It’s a fillip for advancement, and a ‘sine-qua-non’ for growth.
No wonder, education is one of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s cardinal priorities, and new grounds are being broken in a bid to take the sector to halcyon shores. Hence, the recent announcement by Governor Ikpeazu, that the Abia State scholarship board which have been living only in name be reinvigorated to give respite to parents who solely bear the burdens of training their wards all through the academic cadre. Most especially, brilliant Abia students or their handicapped counterparts could have dropped out for no able sponsor.
It is no longer news, that the excruciating national economic environment is telling on many Abia households, hence the nip in the bud by Governor Ikpeazu. It is hoped that the energized State’s Scholarship Board will reinvent the old-better days when exceptional academic outing was a prism for recognition of the student by the government and the larger society. This will invariably spur students of Abia origin to study earnestly with so much certainty and cock-sureness as there is an established platform for a distinguished student to be handsomely assisted. This step will catapult the already highly rated Abia education system to the high heavens.
This noble achievement of our amiable Governor has surely enlisted Abia into the comity of states in the federation where academic egg-heads are nurtured, groomed and sponsored by the government. Abia State is getting ripe as a choice destination for education tourism.
