House Leadership: ‘APC won’t have their way’

A member of the House of Representatives, Anayo Nwonu has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will not have it’s way in it’s bid to impose a new  leadership on the National Assembly.
The lawmaker who represents Ezza South/Ishielu Constituency in the green chamber said the ravings of the National Chairman of the APC will amount to nothing in the long run.
He stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital after visiting teaching Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital where he paid the hospital bills of some of his constituents to enable them be discharged on time to rejoin their families for the Easter celebration
The lawmaker, who was elected for a second term under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, said his party will have a say in who replaces, Senate President, Sen Bukola Saraki and Speaker  of the House, Yakubu Dogara.
The APC which has majority in both Chambers of the legislature have endorsed Sen Ahmed Lawan to succeed Saraki and Femi Gbajabiamilla to succeed Dogara.
But Nwonu said the lawmakers elected under the platform of the opposition PDP will not allow the APC impose any candidate on the National Assembly.
He said:“Right now, you cannot conclude what will happen in the national assembly until the day og inauguration. I want you to forget about party issues and propanganda by the All Progressives Congress(APC), and what the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is saying”
“Lawmakers politics is quite different from what you are seeing. On 11th June  by the special grace of God when we will be inaugurated, you will see a different scenario playing out, you will see a different thing altogether playing.
“By then, the APC chairman will not be in that chamber, Mr. President will not be in that chamber. So, it  is the lawmakers that will decide who they give their leadership. So for now, I will not let out the cat out of the bag on the game we are playing . That day of inauguration, Nigerians will see the politics we are playing.
“The People’s Democratic Party( PDP) will definitely play a role in the emergence of the leadership of the national assembly. Whether they like it or not, whether Oshiomole is barking like a dog, PDP must play a role. But the role they will play, we do not know it until the inauguration day.
“I want to assure you today 20th April, 2019  that the All Progressives Congress(APC) will not have their way, I want to assure you that. I am part of the power brokers at the national assembly and I know what is happening there. I can say it anywhere because I know what is happening”.
“And as of now, no  matter how they do it, APC will not have their way totally. It is not that APC will not be the speaker or senate president, but to say they will determine is a lie”.
