Government thinks that Micheal Okpara university, Umudike will serve us better as a multi disciplinary University.
If we limit the school to Agriculture alone, it would’ve denied many Abians opportunities of choosing careers in other fields.
Dr Ikpeazu said these when the newly Inaugurated Governing Council of the Michael Okpara University, Umudike, paid a courtesy call on the Governor at the Government House,Umuahia.
In his words, “No course can stand alone because there is no Agriculture without Agri-business, So, we will continue to lend our voices to make sure the school maintains its multidisciplinary status”.
He went further, ‘We enjoy a very cordial relationship with the university. We see our partnership with the university as a leap in our agenda for a better Abia. We are aware of the development and job opportunities that come with the Sector, therefore,we will continue to open our doors for collaborative efforts.
Earlier, The entire members of the Governing Council of the University led by the Chairman Rt.Hon.Lawal Zayana, said that the council came to the Government house to pledge loyalty to the Government of Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu ,having been inaugurated on the 9th of May, 2017 by the President of the Federal Republic.
The Chairman who led several academic giants including the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Francis Otunta to the government house, Congratulated the Governor on his electoral victory at the supreme court of Nigeria.
According to him, Abia State is on the map today, due to the Governor’s vigorous campaign for the goods Abia produce.
He therefore thanked the Governor for making out time to receive them.
